Jaz Lai email marketing a scam?

“You can easily start an online business and earn $100k/year in only 3 short days!”-Jaz Lai

With that kind of email title from Jaz Lai, how not to be tempted to sign up?! So I went to the preview and see for myself if his program can really do what they say. And also compare it to courses offered by other internet guru like Fabian Lim and Pam Sieow.

In a nutshell, the program that they are selling is teaching you how to collect as many emails as possible and then use different email marketing (means writing sales copy) to sell your new found leads stuff.

See picture below for the process overview:

jaz lai email marketing steps

His 3 part process

First up, the preview was conducted by a claimed school drop out, Lionel Tan. So that was a disappointment as I didn’t get to see the real Sifu in action. No matter.. I am here to see if  I can retire in 5 years with his system. So here goes..

Step 1: Set up site

In the 3 part process, step 1 is the easiest. He say the course will provide the student many different squeeze page template to use. But if you Google this, there are actually many 3rd party squeeze page solution providers that offer free web site creation or free trials. So no big deal here.

Step 2: Collect emails

Step 2 to me is the hardest. There is actually a big “traffic generation” industry out there where there are tons of people teaching consumers and companies how to get more traffic to their site. Plus, getting traffic to a site is one thing, to get the correct of segment of buyers for your product is a totally different story. Anyway, Lionel provides some insights about their strategies:

1)  Article marketing: writing of articles about your product and refer them to your squeeze page.  If you don’t know how to write you can pay about $5 for someone else to write for you.

2) Post them in various article directories like EzineArticles.com. When I heard this my jaw dropped. This may be very good 2-3 years ago, but with the recent Google search algorithm update this method of getting traffic will actually affect your site ranking (ie harder for people to find your site) . Not convinced? Listen to a Google representative talk about this below.

3) Convert your article into other formats: Turn your text articles to video or audio podcast and load them up to the various sites. Same tactics as text articles just different formats. He mentioned there are several tools out there that can auto convert. But I find many of them of low quality.

Step 3 “Push Button Profit”

Basically it is an auto email sending and response program that helps you deliver your email sales pitch to your contact list. Lionel claims that Jaz Lai have accumulated hundreds (576+) of email template that student can leverage and re-use. So don’t have to think too much. But how do you know which one to use to be most effective?

Show me the money

This is the part I am waiting for. How to get $100K/yr?  Well, one of the example mentioned was a student that sold leads to internal design firms! Not successfully selling online. Meaning he uses step 1 and 2 to collect leads and sell them to companies with products with high margins. In that case, it was $2k for 80 leads monthly. So if he manage to find 5 internal design companies, he will be able to get $100k/yr!

So how much to get started? There 2 packages on offer. One is personal coaching (one to one and can drop by their office anytime)  and the other is normal class. The cost of the 3 days group course is around $2k ish.

Conclusion

I think his system could help one get $100k/yr but it takes more than just his course. For one, the student will need to work pretty hard to test and re-test what kind of email works for what kind of products. And with the new Google search algorithm change, it will be harder and and harder to get leads using his strategy mentioned. Also I believe to earn top dollars, you would need to find your own Kangtao from offline companies (like internal design firms) who are willing to pay for leads.  In the end, there is no free lunch, so to get top dollars, you need to put in top efforts.

Disclaimer: I do not advocate you to attend or not attend any of the course mentioned. I am just sharing my opinion and am not rewarded in anyway for this article hor.

    Hihi,

Cannot resist a reply. 🙂 I have listened to some of the previews (not all) and I think there are 3 important things that anyone who wants to embark on IM (internet marketing) should really think about.

    – Do you have an inherent drive/motivation to succeed in it? Is it something that you think you may be able to develop an interest in? This is very important else for many people it will simply be attending a company training course (just like any course costing 2-3k) and then not applying it. Of course the big difference is that this is self-funded so you will feel a bit of pinch.

    – I think it has been probably been talked to death… but there is really no free lunch. You will need to invest substantial effort in learning and self-learning. These courses will only give you a baseline formula to start from but no action –> no result. But it is the attractive results and the promise that its not ‘that’ difficult which will bring in people. Its normal human behaviour. Email marketing, SEO websites, CPA marketing, all these are part of the internet ecosystem and they do work because they are also found in main-stream busineses. But please please don’t pay $25 for that 1-click money earning machine which you may come across.

    – There are many ways to learn IM and many facets of IM. I will make a bold claim that there are equally good content online which cost probably a fraction of the course fee. But the question is, would the coaching help you? It does sometimes as some people find it better to learn with a class environment to get started rather than just looking at a webinar or book etc. So essentially, the value for such workshop is the workshop and how they conduct it with the after-class support.

All the best… Thanks blog owner for your sharing… 😉

      Hi Hendry,
Nice to hear from you! completely agree with your 3 points to consider when embarking on any internet marketing course. You hit the nail on the head and thank you for sharing your thoughts.

    • Kay on August 30, 2015 at 10:44 am

Hi, my view is all these are a scam! I myself have attended and find it useless.. these successful ppl are just riding on poor ppl money n became rich!! whereas us, poor becomes poorer.. 🙁 they claim to teach you online business for free, just pay $50. And in the end, they will sell you MLM.. because of ppl rushing to sign, it creates a rush for others to sign, gd thing i maintain my cool and walk off.. after cool down I realised all a scam from reviews.. chew! Jaz lai claimed to be a celebrity and ride on it to ask ppl invest.. there is no free lunch in this world.. many signed for the internet course, but guess many did not make it as well.. be wise.. work hard and craved out on your own be best!

      • roland on November 6, 2016 at 12:35 pm

Hi Kay, did Jaz sell you MLM? I think you are right that there are no free lunch in the world. If you want the reward, all of us must work hard to get it. thanks for sharing.

  2. ChanWK on April 17, 2014 at 3:22 am

May I add something as a student of the course…

It goes through the basics and if you have never heard of Internet marketing before, this will be a good exposure.

With that said, every single thing you will learn during the course can be found online. For free. There is nothing new shared in the course and many of the ideas are actually outdated and yield poor results.

I am pretty sure Jaz himself is not making money online through the methods he teaches (maybe he’s making his riches by selling courses?).. Simply because you just can’t make decent money with those basic, “old school” methods.

And anyone who has attended his course will agree with me that he puts everyone off by upselling again and again. Every single day, he will try to sell us something new when we have already paid for a course to learn how to “Make 100k/year”

Just leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

    My recommendation?

Do not attend any Jaz Lai course unless you have absolutely zero exposure in Internet marketing and you’re willing to blow $2000 just for an introductory exposure.

No disrespect to Jaz, just a heads up, to look out for others who may not know what’s coming.

    Thanks for the blog Roland!

    • roland on April 18, 2014 at 11:57 am

      Hi ChanWk,
Thank you so much for your sharing! It is always important to hear comments and feedback from someone who actually attended the course. I did personally explored more about his method and found out there are a lot of foreign based company offering similar solution for less than $100! So yes, I totally agree that if a person is new to “internet marketing” and don’t have time to self learn, this maybe one way to start. But one should not expect to earn thousands a month in 3 days and retire in 5 years!

  4. Current Graduate from Jaz's IM course on April 25, 2014 at 9:48 pm

    Hello,

I m a current graduate from Jaz’s Internet marketing course.
If I may add on my feedback during the 3 days workshop from Friday to Sunday, I feel the methods he taught may work 5 years ago.

The template or contents we are given looks so dodgy and old. Even the learning materials he provided are more then 8 years old which he claimed is new.

The course was SGD1997.00. But during the pre-workshop training, we have to buy a website domain for ~USD$20, pay for web hosting service, they recommend the students to use their inbox holster to host the website for ~USD$9 per month.

For those who doesn’t know about web hosting, their web hoster actually cost double with lesser function compared to other hoster like host gator or blue host.

I heard from a classmate that they purposely designed the interface that we can find the cancel button to unsubscribe. In the end my friend managed to cancel the service, but the amount was still deducted from his PayPal account monthly.

My friend had no choice but to lodge a dispute case in PayPal. Couple of days later, Jaz emailed and scolded him even refuse to refund the money.

Then we still have to pay for an auto responder program for ~USD$150 per year. The additional setup cost is ~USD$179 / ~SGD$240.

Apart of that, the actual course we went through step by step with all technical stuff, basically just copy and paste the template into our squeeze page.

What I don’t like is every day, about end of each class, Jaz will always lead up with a OTO, One time offer. Total of 3 OTO.
Each OTO is SGD$1997.00. A friend of brought all the OTOs for SGD$5991.00.

Few weeks later we saw similar software that cost only SGD$100.00, of course we tried to not make him sad by saying its different.

Honestly I did not have time to work on my squeeze page, so I should not judge on the result. But one thing for sure is I’ m very suspicious with the way this guy do his business. It almost feels like he’s using his sale method to buy people’s fear or greed for financial freedom.

After all, this is just an individual opinion on the man character and workshop review. You are free to do whatever you want if you think it can help you achieve your dreams.

Personally I would stick to my niche and passion, work on it and carve out my own brand.

    • roland on April 25, 2014 at 11:06 pm

      Hi Jaz’s Graduate,
Sorry to hear your experience learning from Jaz Lai is not good. Didn’t he inform the students that there will be additional monthly charges for domain, hosting and others?
I really can’t believe that Jaz would fault a graduate for canceling the PayPal payment! Why would he do that? That sounds really unprofessional. In any case, thank you very much for your generous sharing. I am very sure your post here will help a lot other potential students in their decision making.

      • Current Graduate from Jaz's IM course on April 26, 2014 at 12:24 pm

        Hi Roland,

There is no hint of additional monthly charges for domain hosting and etc…

I am sure some students, especially the older generations who have limited knowledge about the internet will be blindly paying for the monthly fee.

My friend consulted PayPal customer support and was told that Jaz could just click on the refund button to resolve the dispute, but Jaz told my friend that he will only refund the money when my friend cancel the dispute.

I m not sure why Jaz choose to do this rather then simply click on the resolve button. Either way its unprofessional and dodgy if someone ask me that.

Apparently there are tons of complaints surfacing on the net: https://www.flickr.com/photos/jazlaiscam

What I have to share with people who are thinking of signing up is:

1 ) Keep your cool, don’t sign up immediately as Lionel / Jaz will say only limited to 5 people today and slash the price from S$5000.00++ to S$1997.00 which is the actual price.

        2) Research on past reviews and check on the company background. An instructor credential is the most important thing.

        3) There are a lot of similar websites or workshop offering the same service. If you are lucky, you can find one with just a fraction of the course ( usually webinar ).

        4) Compare other websites or workshop, see which is more suitable for you. Can be in terms of content, price, time, venue or the instructor it self.

        5) If you are ready to commit to the workshop, sign up for the next batch. The offer will still be the same old marketing strategy. In fact I realized most of the preview workshop hosted by other instructor used pretty much the same tactics. It is as though they all have the same mentor.

I hope you have a better in depth vision of the money making scheme workshops. With proper research, I m sure you guys can make a better decision.

Cheers and have a great weekend!

    • Juan on August 26, 2014 at 7:59 pm

Hi, I have just signed up his course and I am not aware that we have to pay extra for the domain hosting etc. I am a newbie in this. I was very worried that my money spent on this course will be wasteful after reading the negative reviews from the participants. I was very regretful for making a rush decision on this matter without doing the research. I’ll be atending the seminar in one to two months time. I would like to ask for some suggestions or preparation before going to the workshop. Is it a compulsory to purchase those hosting domain thing? Or we can request to get the cheaper option? Hope to hear from you guys soon. Thanks.

      • roland on September 4, 2014 at 7:10 pm

        Hi Juan,
If I am not wrong, they will provide a few months of free hosting, but you will have to pay after that. Paying for domain name and hosting for a website are necessary cost to have an online presence. But the good thing is that it is not too expensive. We are looking at about $15 per year for a domain name (eg yourcompany.com) and about $12 per month for hosting. So it will work out to be about $15 to $20 a month to have your very own website.
In terms of preparing for the course, I would say it is best if you already have a offline business or have an idea of a business you want to do. Do some research on what you want to sell (like competition, prices, etc) and have a game plan how you want to start. That way, you will be able to make full use of the time to ask relevant question pertaining to your business. Have fun in your course and do come back to tell us about it! Cheers.

    Just sharing…

The fact is many of the so called asian IMer’s sell pretty expensive introductory programs, with tons of clutter and old tactics. Especially if you attend the NAC, you will be sucked into a sales funnel . Don’t get me wrong, it’s good exposure for newbies, but you have to be dang determined to do alot of hardwork , trial and errors before you make your first breakthrough. I’ve been there , done that, today i make an average of US$5000++/month. Early this year in January and february i made as much as $12,000 and 11k respectively because of the End of the year sales momentum. I say this not to brag, but to share with you that it can be done, because i’ve tried for almost 3 years, countless strategies and methods, from Facebook marketing, to email marketing, apps, affiliate marketing..etc, all failed personally. Good knowledge and experience, and i can tell you the pros and cons…. i can chat about this for the whole day and it wouldn’t end. lol…

My first program was with Vince tan, bought it for RM4997 … brought me for a ride, he made tons of money from newbies like us. (100 in an overcrowded classroom = almost 500k) Now looking back, although it was what brought me into the world of entrepreneurship and making money online, i should have done a little more research. I could have bought plenty of systems and courses without spending that much. Slowly i discovered that the american so called gurus were better in their approach, not to bad mouth the asians, but the follow up and support was much better and i didn’t need to spend 5k for an introductory program.

I’ve tried plenty of methods, got suckered into plenty of programs, finally i stumbled upon one that really suited my work ethic and strengths… i didn’t give up, didn’t listen to naysayers, kept on trying until i hit on something that really works to my style. There are plenty of ways out there, you have to keep searching for one. But also be flexibly stubborn, change your methods and move to the next if you really really hit a brick wall.

    • roland on June 21, 2014 at 10:35 pm

      Hi Cody,
Thank you so much for your comments. You have touched on several important points about the path to success. That is finding your own styles and having the perseverance to pursue your dreams. I couldn’t agree more that there are more then one ways to be successful in internet marketing (there is Content Marketing, email marketing, CPA, Affiliate Marketing etc), but the approach and strategy must suits your objectives, strength, expectation and like you say “Style”. The hard part is for the average person to decent what is what and which is most suitable for them. It doesn’t help that the some of the advertising and promotions assets tend to mix it all up.
The other excellent point you highlighted is your will to succeed. You didn’t stop at one but kept trying different programs and style till you found what you were looking for. That is a mark of a true winner. Like Truman Capote famously said “Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavor.” Meaning, without failing you would not find success. So to me, failure is not important, but the ability to learn and bounce back and try again (not on the same wall!) is the most important traits of a winner.
Thanks again for your selfless sharing!

I attended his course a few years back when he claimed that this will his last workshop as he MAY not live long as he has a cancer (if my memory did not fail me it should be throat cancer).

He was a very stingy guy. He conducted his workshop at an industrial building in Aljunied and restricted your food intake during lunches. Not that I am very particular about it but I paid almost $2k and this is the only workshop/seminar that I attended which restrict your food intake. How much does it cost to provide ample food for the participants?

Anyway I still can’t make $100k a month based on what he preach or teach. Not recommended for anyone who want to make even $1k a month.

  9. Passion Fruit on September 11, 2014 at 5:16 pm

All this talk about sales, leads and making tons of money – what exactly is this guy selling? What is the product? He’s never really explicitly mention that. And don’t give me that BS of “That’s why you have to attend the course to find out!” Listen: that’s the exact type of things conmen say to their victims. I mean look, if i’m spending 2 hours of my precious time and a thousand whatever dollars to attend your course, you better damn well tell me what exactly is going down in that class.

I’m generally very skeptical about people spend too much time talking about success and making money. People who are truly successful and rich usually don’t have much time to brag about how successful and rich they are.

Which leads me to this: perhaps his claim to fame is solely in selling internet marketing lessons. If that’s the case, people are paying A LOT of money for tuition lessons from someone who’s merely selling fluff.

    • roland on September 15, 2014 at 10:42 pm

Hi Passion Fruit, Wow! looks like you are indeed very skeptical about his course. Yes, he does allocate quite a bit of time talking about this successful life and testimonials. Not as much time on the course content itself. But I wouldn’t brush everyone that does that as “selling fluff”. I am sure there are many others who have benefited from his course. I think it is a matter of setting the right expectation (by not overselling) to potential student to prevent misunderstanding. At the end of the day, we need both hands to clap. The students need to know what they want AND educators need to be transparent. That will greatly reduce any misunderstanding.

  10. Sue on October 5, 2014 at 9:25 pm

This is what happened with Jaz Lai course, first I paid $1997 for the course fee, during the course they make us pay another $1997 for a so-called digital product, haha if anybody want it I can sell it at half price. on the last day of the course, they want us to pay more than $800 for some internet marketing software application installation but I could not afford and refused to pay for it.

I regretted…to spend so much money for I also have kids to feed.

Hi there is this recent seminar by Andrew Tan on Qoo10. It is under Jaz Lai’s company. Have anybody went through that course?

    • roland on October 14, 2014 at 12:08 am

      Hi Aaron,
I am not sure if Andrew and Jaz are business partners. From from what I see in the domain name registration (http://website.informer.com/q10freedom.com#tab_stats), they seems to be partnering. I have not gone to the preview by Andrew yet, so can’t comment. However, you can read other review here: http://edeuin.blogspot.sg/2014/05/i-would-like-to-share-highlights-of.html. What he say is very true. You need to have the “kangTao” to find good product to sell. If not, all the tools being taught will be useless.

      • Aaron Sin on October 14, 2014 at 11:59 am

Yeh. I read that article as well. The Qoo10 course is quite attractive I must say but the only thing besides the SGD 1,997.00 is the investment to purchase the products from China. Another thing is that I am not sure if he will employ the same technique as Jaz Lai to have those One Time Offer (OTO). I have also attended the free seminar and assured us that there are OTO offers in the course and there is free unlimited life-time follow up as well. Still not sure if I should sign up for this course as today will be his last preview session for 2014.

        • roland on October 15, 2014 at 10:57 pm

          Hi Aaron,
I have a friend that attended his course. During his course he will ask if students want to follow him on a sourcing trip to China for additional $3k. He will lead the group and point out where one can source for their goods to sell on Qoo10. My friend say the trip is actually quite helpful and think is the most valuable part as you can get this kind of connection from web surfing. the actual course itself is nothing much. The “secret” to success in Qoo10? Per my friend who is already doing it part time… is your product and passion. You need a good product that is not “me-too” to get margin and passion to continue the biz as it can be very time consuming. My friend can roughly *guess* only about 20-30% of the students will continue the Q0010 biz after 6 months. So don’t try this if you are not in it for the long haul.

            Dear Roland,

Thanks for the great info! Just want to check if your friend have already recoup his investment for the course fees and the trip after going for this course and selling on Qoo10. However what if students who do not opt for the China sourcing trip? Will they in any be more disadvantage then people who went for the sourcing trip?

            Thanks.

          • roland on October 19, 2014 at 2:01 pm

            Hi Aaron,
Yes they did but because they claim PIC! haha. They leverage our local training scheme to get funding for their training so they can recover much faster! that is one way small company should do when they attend courses. To me, the most valuable part is the China sourcing trip (you can’t google for a good source from China). So unless you already have your own product source, going for the trip quite good.

  12. TMT on October 21, 2014 at 11:44 am

    Hello Roland,

I read the entire stream of comments with great interest, because I also attended the Qoo10 money-making presentation by Jaz Lai a few weeks ago. I thought whatever he presented was much more “believable” that many others in the market selling internet money-making programmes, especially the one at Park Mall selling the world-famous MOBE programme. However because I have a habit of not making on-the-spot decision to may high value items, I didn’t sign up for Jaz Lai’s programme. A few days later, I learnt that one of my friends did on a separate occasion.

From my understanding, Jaz Lai is perhaps the only one (in the world?!) selling Qoo10 money-making programme. That was what got me interested in the first place. And before I had stumbled upon this webpage, I had arranged with that friend who signed up to share the cost of the programme with him. Since he would be attending the actual training session, he will pay a higher percentage.

I hope to provide an update again in a month’s time, after my friend has attended the training session.

    • roland on October 25, 2014 at 1:03 pm

      Hi TMT,
Thanks for stopping by this site. Yes, please do share your friend’s experience after he has attended the training program. Would love to hear feedback from different students.

    • Aaron on February 3, 2015 at 10:01 am

Hi TMT, I would like to check if your friend and yourself have benefitted from the course as well as signing up to go China for the sourcing trip.

      Thanks.

    • Sammy on March 18, 2015 at 3:15 pm

      Hi TMT,

Would like to know if you have heard any feedbacks from your friend ? I attended their seminar recently, and I am very interested to sign up for the upcoming course. I really want to know if they really teach one how to find suppliers without me flying to China.

Hope to hear from you soon!

  13. Neo on December 26, 2014 at 12:41 pm

I am sure is a scam Not worth paying $5000 to Shen Zhen to see the suppliers
when it costs only a couple of hundreds to go there ! They are making tons of money
when they claimed that you can claim back 100% from PIC which is not true!
They are money suckers! Now I understand a lot of people got rejected by PIC when they claim

    • roland on January 1, 2015 at 12:26 pm

Hi Neo, I guess new comer to internet marketing would find this good deal as he is telling them where to source for their goods. It is the network that they are paying. If he just brings the student to the wholesale mall and ask them to find their own supplies, it is definitely not worth it. But if he is able to introduce good and honest vendor his students, that is a different story. Again, I am guessing as I have not gone to his session.

  14. Lewis on February 2, 2015 at 11:31 am

    Hi,

Any updates on the course attended? Can students really start to make 10k+ 2 months later?

  15. Jaz Lai's ICE graduate on March 16, 2015 at 3:24 pm

As a past graduate, I will also like to add on:

Jaz Lai mentioned that there is post-support and graduates can always come back for post-support. I want to say this is sugar-coated words. I wrote to their Support email and basically there was NO support. Kinda disappointed because this is oversell and under-delivery.

But in all fairness, the ICE workshop is a pretty good start for internet marketing newbies.

Anyway, you have been warned, their Support sucks!

Any updates/reviews on the Qoo10 course?

    Thanks

    • roland on March 21, 2015 at 5:14 pm

No reviews yet… looks like the course is not being held regularly. So kind of hard to catch. 🙁

  17. wuming79 on March 25, 2015 at 5:05 pm

I can’t believe no other review from ex-student for Andrew Tan’s Qoo 10 course. It looks like his course always have a lot of students! All made it and no time to post review?

    • roland on March 29, 2015 at 11:45 am

I think most of the readers reach this post researching on Jaz Lai’s course and not Andrew’s. So that could be the reason no reader is posting reviews here.

  18. Lewis on April 2, 2015 at 8:41 pm

    Hi Roland,

Would you like to start a review on andrew tan? Having a hard time looking for his review elsewhere…

    • roland on April 5, 2015 at 10:39 am

Hi Lewis, I would like to. But need to find out when he is having his course and if that fits my schedule. Meanwhile, I did a little looking around and found out that he is selling on Qoo10 site using a nickname call “abundantachiever”. his site here: http://www.qoo10.sg/shop/abundantachiever. He sells mainly low priced items with lot of duplicates. for those low prices, he would need to sell a lot of make a decent living. Not sure if he has other selling channel.

  19. […] So you can continue to market to these group of people even after they visit your page. Patricia show one example of a guy who make a sale with just 11 emails. This strategy is similar to Jaz Lai’s method which I reviewed here. […]

  20. Lee on May 17, 2015 at 9:26 am

    Hi
Just want to share some thoughts after attended Andrew Tan’s Qoo10 Freedom Maker Workshop.
They have shortened the course to 2 days. Surprisingly, it is about 90x people a class.

I found his course is not very informative. What he taught is very basic and could be self-learn through online. He has committed to share the supplier’s and freight information with very discounted price. In fact, he has only 1 freight source and we still have to bargain the price ourselves. I believe all these strategies are all known. Have tried to ask deeper informaiton from him during the break but rejected. He is so stingy to share the information and teach more that his handouts.

In short, i found that i should have saved my $2.2k for other course instead of attending his course & is a wastage to me. Just to share with others who considering his course.

    • roland on May 17, 2015 at 2:01 pm

Hi Lee, Thanks for sharing your opinion about Andrew Tan’s Qoo10 workshop. Did he up-sell the China tour in his class? What I heard is this is just the basic course. One will need to pay more to attend the “advance” course.

    • Aaron on May 18, 2015 at 12:23 pm

      Hi Lee,

I understand that Andrew has also this Crystall Ball software that helps you to identify which niche or item that you should sell on Qoo10. Care to elaborate what this software can do as well? Actually from Andrew Tan’s preview seminar, the main highlights that they mention are the following:

      1. Good discount for the freight charges;
      2. Crystall Ball Software to identify the niche to sell on Qoo10;
      3. They have a good lawyer to help you write the proposal to claim PIC for the course fees;

That’s about it, I think besides the part where you will need to pay extra money to go China and see the suppliers.

      • kay on June 8, 2016 at 11:41 pm

hi, i dun think there is any lawyer.. all they give u is a receipt and u go claim pic urself. need hire 3 employers….

  21. Tom on August 21, 2015 at 1:49 am

    Hi,

I attended Andrew’s Tan Qoo10 course in Mar’15 and i would say that it was considered informative for a newbie like me. Generally, it will help speed up a newbie’s learning curve but maybe for those experienced seller on Qoo10, probably not so useful. When i first attended the preview, what made me signed up was the potential of earning a 5 figure income a month just by selling on Qoo10. There were also student testimonials during the preview.

Now, after 5 months, i am close to hitting “good” seller status but came with alot of hard work, not as easy as he claim to be by just spending an hour a day. I also noted that abundantachiever, which is his account on qoo10, had only a “good” seller rating. Maybe because it was more lucrative teaching than maintaining his qoo10 business that’s why it took a dip from “power” seller rating. Anyway, i started to model other “power” seller and i learn more than what i was taught. I would say that the money is well-spent to kick start my qoo10 business journey but there are alot to learn on your own along the way.

Consider that there are so many IM courses out there these days that does not require inventory, qoo10 business is definitely not easy to manage, considering that you do need to manage the growing inventory as your business grows.

For me, it has been a tough but enjoyable journey for me doing this part-time and i am motivated to expand further because i can understand a simple buy & sell business well.

I will also be looking around for more IM courses that is easy for newbies and has the earning potential, the more passive, the better. And i will avoid Jaz Lai after reading all the reviews up there.

  22. Online Marketeer on August 23, 2015 at 2:23 pm

Just like many course providers, they always make difficult things sound very simple, quick and easy, as if giving you a quick lift to touch the rainbow straight up in high speed, but leaving you to discover all the problems and hurdles yourself along the way, and solve them all by yourself or with the help and advice of other experts online, they emerge the biggest winner to earn your course fee upfront before your reality show of discovery begins.
I am deep into blogging and online marketing (Adword, SEO, EDM, eCommerce, digital sale, App, whatever) both in reading (off-line) and practising (online), still learning, reading and practising to keep up with changes, trend and improvement in internet technology. For email marketing alone (don’t even talk about SEO and affiliate marketing, 2 big subjects), I read more than 100K words and sent more than 50K emails over 6 months just to master the whole thing (even though I had solved almost all the technical problems and clear all hurdles before I start bulk sending) at professional level to enjoy the speed and return on info highway, no way could it be so simple, easy and fast (to collect emails and send) to do it like what the course provider sells, otherwise everybody’s email box will be flooded with dozens of junk mails everyday.
If you spam or simply look like spamming with unsolicited mails, Yahoo, Gmail and Outlook will shoot you down in the cloud long before your mails reach any mailbox and yet make you think they were delivered. If I were to teach another person all the tricks and skills, assume that person is a fast and passionate learner like myself, he still needs to spend at least 4-6 hours on it everyday for minimum 30 days to do it effectively with conversion result, there are just too many details that outsiders can’t imagine. Such hard-earned knowledge and skill give me a competitive edge to stay on top of the marketing chain to enjoy something exclusive, why would I give away easily in public courses to invite more competition?
Even blogging is also not so simple, when SEO is concerned to drive traffic to your site to earn Adsense money. I had posted more than 500 articles since 2011 (make all the stupid mistakes but also enjoy the traffic jam) and I am still improving the contents, page setting and phrasing every day to be SEO-friendly. Almost everything online requires regular practices to perfect them as skills for best result, never ready-made fool-proof money-making facility and tools for any beginner.
My advice for all who are coming on board online is : never underestimate anything online, if you do, you’ll get knock out first and fast, surrender or give up just after the first round out of frustration.
A short note on selling on Qoo10 or the like, do not assume your product will sell everyday or be exposed and advertised automatically, you still need to do your own marketing to drive traffic to your shop. Back to the difficulty and effectiveness of each type of online marketing again, hurdles ahead must clear or get buried by other savvy marketeers.

    • roland on September 28, 2015 at 11:13 pm

Hi Online Marketeer, thank you so much for words of wisdom. Like you, I have also spent many hours reading and practicing online marketing. And I can vouch that what you mentioned is really true. No free lunch and the reward will only go to those that put in the effort. That is one of the main reason why set up this blog to spread the awareness to those who seek fast bucks online.

Thanks again for your generous sharing!

  24. Winnie on September 8, 2015 at 11:37 am

    Hi

After read the comments from others, I’m very regretting now for not doing the research before signed up for Andrew Tan’s course. I’m newbie to the IM and want to earn some extra income and hope that one day I can be a full time mother taking care of my kid at home same time doing the online business. That’s why after attended Andrew Tan’s free 2 hours seminar, I signed up for his course on last Thu (03/09/15). I do not know he is those kind of stingy pesone before read the comments.

Can I still withdraw from his course? I saw the T&C, there is a Cooling Off Period so long advise them in writing within five (5) working days of signing the order form, so wondering today still consider within 5 working days? Anyone can guide me? I do not want to waste my hard earn money in this way… 🙁

    • roland on September 28, 2015 at 11:04 pm

Hi Winnie, so sorry i didn’t see your post earlier. I you are still in time for the course withdrawal. And I think even if you missed a few days, they should be generous enough to grant you the withdrawal.

  25. Alan on October 1, 2015 at 9:30 pm

I registered for Jaz Lai preview course focusing on CoQ10 & Lazada. When I reached the lobby, I am told that the session is full and we can’t enter the room even I have registered it online. I questions the ushers why they still accept registration knowing that the session is full. He said that they already informed participants to arrive early and already “do their part”. This is totally unprofessional and poorly organise. They never apologize and yet claiming that they do nothing wrong. I am glad that I read all the review here and did not sign up.

    • roland on October 4, 2015 at 11:10 am

Hi Alan, Sorry to hear about your experience. Hopefully you will be able to find other courses that suit you.

    • Li on March 26, 2016 at 7:10 pm

Seminar industry is like that. If the room can sit 100 people, they will take in registration of at least 200 because the typical show up rate of people registered is only 50% on average. That’s why if suddenly 70% show up, they wil have not enough seats for all the people. Sorry to hear that you have been turned away but that’s how they work. I know because I spent 7 years in a few of these seminar companies.

  26. Joseph on October 8, 2015 at 11:04 pm

My brother and I both attended Andrew’s Qoo10 workshop last year. The cost was $1997. However, we did not attend his China Trip which cost $5000. They have the upsell for the China trip at the end of the Qoo10 workshop. They claim to give you a software worth $5000 free to better manage your Qoo10 business if you attend the China trip. I have some internet marketing background and know that most probably they hire a Indian or Philippines programmer from websites such as getafreelancer, odesk, etc. for cheap to develop the software for them and sell it at a ridiculous markup price.

The workshop lasted for 2 whole days on the weekends and there were about 100 students. You need to use your own handphone as a hotspot for internet connection as there were just too many people using the Wifi which slowed down the network. There were not enough volunteers to help the students, especially when we were trying to setup the register and non-register mail, which was extremely confusing. We do learn some good things from the course and I find Andrew as a genuine person who wanted to help the students. However, his support staffs were quite disappointing. Andrew claimed that we would have unlimited support but I have emailed the support staff a few times for help. Some of my emails were not replied at all.

I tried to list a few items at Qoo10 but none of them were making much sales. My brother did much better than me. One of his items became a hotselling product and in some months, he made close to $1000. However, the competition at Qoo10 was very fierce. Soon, other sellers copied the item that he was selling and he lost some of his sales. Nevertheless, he is still making a few hundred dollars per month consistently from that product. I think that finding a profitable niche is not as simple as what Andrew had claimed, especially for newbies. The packing and delivery of the product can be a nuisance sometimes. When my brother was too busy with his main job, he needs to ask my parents to help him send the products to Singpost office for delivery (for customer who chose non-registered mail and not Qexpress).

    • roland on October 8, 2015 at 11:14 pm

Hi Joseph, Thank you so much for your sharing! I am sure your personal experience with the course and frank sharing of the Qoo10 business is very much appreciated. This is not the first time I have heard that doing business in Qoo10 may be profitable but you got to put in the effort. and at the end of the day finding the niche product is very key.

    • Shawn on December 15, 2015 at 5:49 pm

Joseph I totally agree with u. His staff support is one of the worse one I ever know of

  27. Boon on October 29, 2015 at 10:56 am

I signed up for Jaz Lai and Andrew Tan’s Q10 workshop seminar few weeks ago. Hope you don’t mind me sharing my experience and thoughts?

There are some good points and bad points. He did keep some of his promises, while others were wildly exaggerated.

    Here are the good things:
1.) The seminar is comprehensive enough and detailed enough for you to start your own business right away, from the very first step until you are big enough to outsource, from finding the right suppliers to feeding your sales number steroids, from tracking/researching to forecasting. He will cover the whole spectrum.

2.) There are videos recorded for you to go back to if you have forgotten something. There is also a reading material as thick as an encyclopedia provided for you in case you need to refresh your memory. It’s a step-by-step process that is easy to follow.

    Here are the bad ones:
1.) Poorly organized; poor infrastructure – There were more than 150 students cramped in a mid-size conference hall. You have to sit elbow to elbow, literally, with your classmates. Internet bandwidth cannot cover for everyone. Learning has been disrupted a few times due to the internet connection issue. So majority ended up using their own hotspot instead.

2.) Too much students – there were over 150 students with only one teacher. How do you expect this to be a conducive learning environment? Some questions will not be answered due to time constraint. Not sure if everyone will be able to follow the step-by-step procedure as there are simply way too many students (who ask a lot of questions) and too little time to teach everything.

3.) $5,000 upsell – after paying $1997 for the workshop, it is true that it will provide enough information for you to start your own online business. But you will be at a disadvantage if you don’t sign up for the $5,000 upsell, as it will enable you to get supplies at a cheaper rate. So technically, the $1997 will indeed enable you to start your own online business, but not at an advantageous position compared to those who are willing to shell out $5000 for the upsell.

4.) Zero after-sales support – this is perhaps the biggest disappointment. During the sales pitch to sign up for his workshop, Andrew will first promise for a year support. If you have any questions or need any help after the seminar, you can always contact them. But wait… there’s more. Instead of 1 year, he will make it a lifetime support. Once you pay the $1997 fee, you can always approach them until the day you die.
So, what happened when I called them for support two weeks after the seminar? “No! No! You email Qoo10 lah!” I was taken aback, so I try to be gentle and speak some sense to his staff “But I have a very simple question, would you be kind enough to help me?” It was futile. “No. No. I cannot help. You go Qoo10 for help. Their email at the back of your workbook lah.”
Come to think of it, there were over 300 students who signed up in a span of just 2 weeks, and the number of his staff is not even close to 10. Simple arithmetic shows there is no way he can keep his promise of a lifetime support. Heck, from my experience, not even 2 weeks support.
Be warned: After the seminar, you are on your own. (If you pay the $5000 upsell there may be a chance to get more support I suppose).

PS. The 1-hour/day extra work he mentioned during the sales pitch, I didn’t believe him but for those who do, this is obviously not true. You need to work your butt off especially at the beginning. Expect long hours of research day in and day out.

    • roland on November 1, 2015 at 5:37 pm

Hi Ben, Thanks for your very comprehensive review. I am sure many readers will appreciate your frank and balance view very much. Zero after sales support is definitely not acceptable. I wonder if you have a case with CASE. Also, the $5000 for the additional workshop is a lot of money. Any would be Q0010 business owners need to work out the ROI of this investment before committing. Try not to commit without doing homework and own calculation. Many thanks to Ben for sharing your views!

For those who have attended the recent Jaz’s ecommerce seminar which have to do with Zrii’s new binary version 3 MMM (Jaz use this terminology which stand for ‘Make More Money’ instead of MLM which is an pun ‘Make Less Money’). For the benefit of those who didn’t attend the talk or surfer who want to know latest update about Jaz Lai’s business here, Jaz himself mentioned in the seminar that the reason why he join and supported this business are not only due to their products, the company’s support from big boys like Christian Dior Boss Bill Farley, but their special commission scheme:

    1) Zrii’s model of eliminate ‘Power Leg And Inner Leg’

From what I recalled in simple term: In ‘normal’ MLM model, imagine there are 2 downlines under you, one who is lazy who don’t sell products or recruit new members much and another who is super driven in sell products more or recruit more members. Those ‘realistic’ normal MLM upline guy or girl will usually try to recruit you under the ‘inner leg’ (lazy bum downline) so that they will not be in the disadvantage and they hope the new downline can really work so that they still get an ‘over-ride’ commission

However under Zrii’s scheme, for any new members, Zrii’s model will try to assign them by the ‘gap’ or in other words instead of forming an team based on the hardworking or lazy downline, Zrii will try to make sure that both the ‘left and right’ leg are equal and balance ( just imagine an scenario like an triangle with all the members fill up, not just e.g less people on the left side and right side got more people, still I wondered why the other past ‘famous’ MLM company didn’t think of this efficient members’ plan in the first place?)

    2) ‘Free’ Cars!

To qualify for an free BMW from Zrii, their award system is based on ‘Star’ Ranking instead of the usual Personal Volume (PV), Commissionable Volume (CV) points etc, when you reached to an 7-Star ranking, you will be invited to Zrii’s Event and collect the car’s key together with the team. Can have chance to win 2 BMW?!

    3) The Founders Club

As Jaz claim, his team is the first to be in Asia for this business and he is looking for more ‘founding’ members to start the ‘momentum’ in asia. He will contact training with those who signed up under him if they choose the $1000 distributor package (would be better if there are 2 more members included you sign up.)

Anyway I think the real concern is not whether Zrii is an true ‘MMM’ profit-making business or not, I think the most ‘serious’ problems or negative feedbacks about MLM are these issues :

    1) I checked this ‘ABC’ MLM company’s record, they didn’t seen to make ‘billion’ profit in short time, so how can they have such an ‘generous’ commission scheme?

    2) Product dumping : It is an well known secret that most distributors who want to rise up the MLM ladder quickly, they will buy up many boxes of the MLM’s products they are in and sell (or ‘dump’) them in the market (usually online) below downline ‘customer’ pricing or below the actual wholesale price from the main company. Whether is it ‘unethical’ will depend on the MLM company ‘s business point of view, or the poor distributor who had to keep stock up the products they buy in their home until their expiry date 😀 , plus the consumers’ point of view who can get ‘discount’ price than directly from the company or without even have to join their MLM team in order to order their products. (the only issue is they have to check that it is not an imitation/harmful products or near expiry products as well!).

    3) Another ‘phony-create-miracle’ products like the famous Noni Juice where there is not ‘certified’ guarantee from relevant gahment’s agency but can deliver result?!

Finally, any experienced network marketers want to continue sharing their knowledge here? 😀

I had attended the sales preview talk of all the 3 courses. To be frank, it’s quite tempting to attend any one these but the prices is another considerations.

Feedback that I got from my few peers that had attended the courses is that it’s not that simple to set up and get started. You need to have a lot of patience and practise.

Then my other peers told me of a cheaper alternatives that they had found and the cost is only about $100. I had paid for it as I wanted to try IM (Internet Marketing). I am already getting results after a month and I am a bit slow learner as I took 2 weeks to digest the content I learnt.

I am not promoting but sharing with others here only. I rather risk $100 than thousands of dollars on something new and whatsmore quite informative.
